Health and well-being

Our Care Team is here on campus to ensure the health and happiness of our students.

Our empathetic care staff provide confidential student support counselling and support them as they grow from children towards adulthood. We are also proud to be the first Swiss boarding school to become a partner in delivering the accredited evidence-based KiVa Anti-Bullying Program.

What our Care Team offers

Early intervention and preventative counselling

Our Care Team provides a safe and confidential environment where students can express their concerns and work through problems. We aim to do this before small problems develop into tough issues. We help students address everyday challenges, such as academic stress, peer relationships and behavioural issues. We offer guidance and practical strategies to help students build resilience, improve their social skills and enhance their overall experience of growing towards adulthood. If every student feels heard and supported, they are empowered to succeed both academically and personally.

Mental health and social skills workshops

Our Care Team provides mental health and social skills workshops to help students learn about managing stress, building self-esteem and developing healthy relationships. These offer a safe and engaging space where young people can explore the healthy choices that will keep them safe as they grow. We use interactive activities, discussions and practical exercises to teach students valuable skills in reducing risk, communication, empathy, conflict resolution and self-responsibility.
The infirmary

The infirmary is accessible to day and boarding students throughout the school day. Our highly qualified and empathetic school nurse provides immediate medical care for injuries and illnesses, administers medication as necessary and determines when a doctor or hospital visit is the next step. The infirmary can carry out medical screenings as required for students in the years mandated by the Canton of Zug.

We can organise medical appointments with our local General Practitioner for our boarding students. The Care Team coordinates with parents, teachers and house parents to ensure ongoing care so that everyone is kept informed about all aspects of students' health and well-being.

KiVa anti-bullying programme

“KiVa is a research- and evidence-based anti-bullying program that has been developed in the University of Turku, Finland, with funding from the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture. The strong effectiveness of KiVa has been proven scientifically through a large national randomized and controlled trial as well as several different studies. KiVa is being used around the world and it is the world’s most studied anti-bullying program.” – Quoted from the KiVa website.

Institut Montana Zugerberg is the first boarding school and the second school in Switzerland to provide the KiVa programme within our curriculum.

The KiVa anti-bullying programme is grounded in three core principles: prevention, intervention, and monitoring.

Dining services

Eating and living like at home

Why is our dining hall one of the most important rooms on our campus?

Dining is about the nourishment that maintains our physical health and the sociability that promotes our mental health. It is also a fun part of the day. We maintain our tradition of a sit-down lunch at long tables every day. This is a good time to catch up with friends and colleagues.

Our students and staff enjoy daily meals that include breakfast, cocoa breaks, lunch, afternoon breaks, and dinner. We combine served and buffet-style options, offering cuisine from different countries and eating styles, including vegetarian dishes. There is always something for everyone.

We carefully select our suppliers, prioritising local products. Our milk, for example, comes directly from the Zugerberg. By sourcing seasonal ingredients, we ensure our food is always fresh and delicious.
