Your home away from home

Life at our boarding school

Your children come to Switzerland to live and to grow as well as to study. They will be warmly welcomed into a happy, multi-national, family-like community and cared for by experienced house parents.

Their lives will be full of fun and learning as they grow in an environment that is safe and loving. We know that children need different types of support as they mature, and adapt our programmes accordingly so that students develop into self-responsible young people who are confident and kind.
We have three houses, two for boys and one for girls.

At weekends, our boarding students explore Switzerland, its culture and its magnificent landscape with regular visits to ski resorts during the winter. Evenings are opportunities to wind down, but we ensure that there is also a programme of activities to keep everyone busy.  Living in a boarding house is an opportunity to build strong friendship bonds that remain a support for a lifetime.

For the older boys

Grosses Haus

Older boys live on the top floors of our Grosses Haus. They have their own area where they have space to develop their sense of self-discipline while enjoying the journey towards adulthood. Their house parents understand how to help them get the best out of these precious years. First opened in 1869 as the "Curanstalt Schönfels", our “Grosses Haus” is the epicentre of school life, with classrooms, the dining room and offices on the floors below the boarding accommodation, and the Blue Room on the ground floor where students meet for relaxation and recreation.

For the younger boys

Haus Juventus

Haus Juventus is for the younger boys. It was first built as an annexe to the old Hotel Schönfels, and then modernised to offer comfortable accommodation for boarders including cosy rooms for students to share and spend time together. Movie nights sprawled on oversized beanbags and table football: all part of boarding life at Juventus.

For the girls

Haus Felsenegg

Felsenegg is for the girls. It is a magnificent building with large windows overlooking Lake Zug. Bright, modern boarding accommodation is on the upper floors with plenty of socialising and relaxing areas. The girls also have kitchens for learning about cooking from all over the world. The lower floors have classrooms, offices, our library and media centre, an art room, a fitness area and the beautiful Aula, our venue for events and conferences.

Our outside areas

For fun and relaxation

Outside areas are an essential part of our healthy lifestyle. They are also attractive, surrounded by meadows, pastures and woods. They provide opportunities for summer sports – a natural grass sports field, clay tennis courts, beach volleyball court and basketball courts, and a downhill mountain bike course. The Sunset Grill on the terrace of Grosses Haus is a delightful venue for summer events.

The walk between lessons along a tree-lined avenue provides the fresh air that keeps minds awake to keep learning, as well as a chance to let off steam, ready to focus again on those studies.

Flexi-boarding

Your children are day students, but suddenly your schedule is filled with work commitments and meetings around the world. Or you have to travel to a weekend function. Flexi-boarding is a great solution. Or your child really wants to spend a weekend with their classmates who are boarders. Weeks or weekends. More information on request.
