Bilingual Primary School

Children arrive at our primary school speaking either German or English. Through bilingual education and immersive classes in two languages, they become confident in both. They follow the Swiss primary curriculum that integrates traditional school subjects into a programme of exciting learning and exploration and encourages the use of technology across school subjects to develop digital literacy skills. Motivation is kept high with project-based learning, outdoor education and opportunities to present their achievements to an audience. Our key focus is to develop critical thinking skills, collaboration, confidence and kindness.

Following the Swiss curriculum

Our Swiss programmes, in accordance with the decentralised Swiss education system, are based on the framework provided by the Canton of Zug. We adapt them to the context of our school and offer an international approach that includes bilingual (English and German) tracks.

The first step to success

Why choose our Bilingual Primary School?

A boy student learns in a class, he is looking up.

Small classes with caring teachers and assistants

With an average of 10 students per class and a maximum of 15, we optimise support for each student. Small classes enable teachers to form meaningful connections with each student, allowing a deeper understanding of their unique academic needs. This personalised approach, combined with EAL and DaZ specialists, helps students to thrive and reach their learning goals.

Bilingual education in an international environment

The bilingual primary school follows a Swiss curriculum with full-immersion classrooms in German and English.

Over half of our primary school students have an international background, so the children make friends who come from different cultures and speak other languages at home. They learn to be the global citizens of tomorrow.

Flexible future educational pathways

Students have wide options at the end of primary school. They can continue to the Bilingual Secondary School, Swiss Gymnasium, or International School, depending on their strengths, interests and future aspirations.

Engaging after-school activities

We offer a wide range of clubs and activities, as we believe that important learning takes place outside of the curriculum. Students can choose from visual arts, sports, baking, science, robotics and much more.

A unique, safe and beautiful location

While our surroundings are rural, we are close to the city of Zug. Convenient access allows families to drop off their children either at the school or at the Zugerberg Bahn at Schönegg, from where they ride the funicular up to school under the supervision of our staff.

Dedicated and specialised facilities

Our youngest children have their own area of our campus with dedicated classrooms and play areas. They take lunch in the lovely school dining room, where they are supervised by their teachers.

Helpful Information

To start grade 1, students must be 6 years old and have completed the compulsory kindergarten year or equivalent (HarmoS level P2)

We determine admission to the programme through previous report cards and trial days, where a potential student's social, emotional and academic skills are evaluated

For higher grades (4-6), we also consider the level of language support needed (case by case)

Children who join in grades 5 and 6 must be fluent in either German or English. It is helpful to have some knowledge of the other language
