2024 was full of accomplishments by our students as well as our team members! Let's take a moment to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Markus, Siobhán, and Mathias, who demonstrated their passion and dedication by participating in marathons across Europe.

Markus, our bilingual primary school teacher, fulfilled a lifelong dream by completing the Irish Dublin Marathon in Ireland in 5h 20m 38s. Among 25,000 runners, he secured 3100th place in his age group. His motivation was simple:

"I love Ireland and always wanted to take part in a Marathon. So, it's the perfect combination."

Siobhán, our IGCSE Head of Programme, showcased her incredible speed at the Swiss City Half Marathon Lucerne , finishing in an impressive 1h 40m 29s and earning 42nd place in her group. This was her second time participating in the Lucerne Half Marathon, and she shared that it's a great way to stay motivated and keep training throughout the year.

"Running can be quite challenging, especially when the weather is cold, wet or snowy, it is important to always have a next goal, a new race to train for.  I have already registered for the Lucerne 1/2 marathon 2025!"

Siobhán also highlighted the incredible atmosphere on race day, with spectators cheering on all the runners. She said the live music and the heart-warming cheer from the crowd helped carry her to the finish line.

Mathias, our Houseparent and Activity Team, also joined the Lucerne race above mentioned, crossing the finish line in 2h 03m 06s and securing 308th place in his M45 age group.  His biggest motivation for running is his competitive spirit with Siobhán.

"We are very competitive and love go running together, and obviously you stay in a bit better shape if you do some sports."

Congratulations to Markus, Siobhán, and Mathias for their incredible achievements! Here’s to more goals and victories ahead.
